How to check and clean Claude text

For an email, preserve paragraph breaks and check that any list remains readable after its formatting is simplified. For an article, retain source links and verify that quoted language is still marked as a quotation. For a code snippet, keep punctuation conversion off and inspect the narrowest failing line before changing a whole file.

Suppose a customer name looks correct but will not match a CRM record. Paste that field alone, compare the code-point findings, and check for an extra character between letters. A successful match after a targeted edit is evidence that the field contained a mismatch. It is not evidence of Claude’s involvement.

Does Claude add a text watermark?

Anthropic describes a text watermark based on patterns in word selection and explicitly says that the method adds no hidden characters. Its published detection access is a private-preview API for eligible organizations. GPTClean-up does not call that API and does not report whether a passage carries that watermark.

What you can inspect here is the actual character sequence you pasted. This helps when a copied answer contains an unexpected no-break space, a soft hyphen, or a formatting control. Those observations can diagnose text handling without making an unsupported statement about authorship.

Review Claude output before publishing

A clean clipboard result is only one part of a publishing workflow. Read the result for missing qualifications, unsupported numbers, incomplete citations, and tone. If Claude helped draft the material, follow the rules of the place where you will use it. Cleaning technical artifacts does not alter the history of the work.

Keep an original copy if the text includes another language, mathematical notation, or a technical identifier. Some invisible characters serve a real purpose. Use the report to make a specific choice, and test the destination after pasting rather than assuming that every highlighted item should disappear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will removing invisible characters remove Claude’s statistical watermark?

No. Character removal does not perform the word-selection analysis or transformation associated with that watermark.

Why does the scanner show nothing in a Claude answer?

The answer may contain none of the characters covered by the scanner. An empty report does not establish whether a statistical watermark exists.
