Claude AI detection vs statistical watermark verification
A provider watermark check and a general AI writing classifier are different methods. A character scanner is a third method with a different purpose. Before trusting a result labeled “Claude detector”, look for a clear explanation of the method and the scope of its evidence.
Anthropic’s published watermark documentation describes a keyed statistical approach and limited detection access. GPTClean-up has no such integration. It would be inaccurate to convert the presence of a soft hyphen or zero-width space into a Claude attribution result.
Review Claude drafting and editing evidence
If you are checking a technical field, authorship may be irrelevant: inspect the mismatch and fix the character that caused it. If you are evaluating a document’s origin, preserve the original and review drafting evidence through the appropriate process.
For a writer, a useful habit is to keep notes showing which parts were researched, drafted, or edited with assistance. Those records can explain the work more directly than a later guess based on style. For a reviewer, focus questions on specific claims, missing references, or unexplained changes rather than a generic suspicion.
What a character scan can and cannot detect
A passage can contain only ordinary-looking text and still have been generated or edited with AI. Conversely, a manually written passage can include many invisible formatting characters. The scanner’s findings and the document’s creation history are separate facts.
Use the output here when you need a clean copy for a document, field, or editor. Check that the cleanup preserved meaningful text, and retain any disclosure the destination requires. If a provenance check is needed, seek a method suited to that purpose and do not treat this tool’s character findings as a replacement.
